In a very surprising announcement, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that production of a new Ghostbusters sequel will start this year. And nope, it’s not a sequel to the 2016 female-headlined reboot. It is actually a sequel to the original films from 1984 and 1989. Director Jason Reitman (son of original director, Ivan) will head the project along with Dan Akroyd (writer, also, Ray Stantz in the films). Little else is known about the project, however, other actors returning from the old films (I’m looking at you, Sigourney Weaver and Ernie Hudson) are highly possible. Along with this surprise news, a teaser trailer has also been released by Sony.
