I’m a little late to this, but a couple of weeks ago, Disney released a trailer for another Pixar feature coming out next year titled, Soul. Apparently, this film is going to answer the question of “What if souls had feelings?”
In this story, Jamie Foxx (Ray, Just Mercy) voices Pixar’s first black lead, a middle school teacher/jazz musician named Joe Gardner. Joe has a successful music audition which seems to his big break then… he ends up having his soul separated from his body (aka dying?) and landing in a place called the “You Seminar”, where souls are trained. Also featured in Soul are Tina Fey (30 Rock, Mean Girls), Questlove (The Roots’ drummer), and the legendary Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show, Creed) voicing Joe’s mother.
Soul comes to theaters June 19, 2020.
